GARDEN BABIES

Garden Babies

Move over ty Beanie Babies here comes the Garden Babies.

These limited edition plush bean toys are Garden Babies - Nine vegetable and flower “personalities” perfect for play and bean toy collections. Marketed to ages 3 and up, each plush bean toy comes with a packet of high quality garden seed to plant outdoors. The seed corresponds to the vegetable or flower personality represented. Kids will enjoy playing or collecting these Garden Babies and will learn how real vegetables and flowers grow in the garden. There are nine vegetable and flower “personalities” pictured above. They are (from left to right) Cool Cucumber, Dancin’ Daisy, Kernel Corn, Sunny Sunflower, Crunchy Carrot, Wally Watermelon, Totally Tomato, Plumpy Pumpkin, and Really Radish.

These Garden Babies are available from:
Fed Co-op, Peavymart, Home Hardware, Wal-Mart, Cotter Stores, Halifax Seed, and Weall and Cullen.

Golden Girl Hybrid Tomato

Golden Girl produces large quantities of very smooth golden fruits with as good a taste as any golden tomato. We’re talking sweet with a low acid flavour, although there is surely more acid than you’d think. It’s simply sweet, juicy and pleasing to the taste buds. Maturity is about 69 days with UG/uniform ripening (no green shoulders). The big fruits weigh about 7 to 8 ounces, and have a deep oblate shape-rounded, but flattened just a little. Disease resistance/tolerance is quite strong, and includes V, F-1, F-2, RKN, ToMV, GLS, and ASC. Plants are vigorous, determinate in habit, and require no pruning to produce large tomatoes.
